Ton van Arnhem was appointed as Agricultural Counselor to the United States and Canada by the Netherlands Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Nature in August 2022.

In 1986 Ton graduated from Wageningen Agricultural University (Netherlands) in Horticulture, Agricultural Economics and Agricultural Marketing & Research. He has an extensive background in agricultural trade policy, and plant health and food related matters.

Ton started working for the Netherlands Department of Agriculture in 1986, where he served a.o. as Netherlands’ Chief Phytosanitary Officer (2000-2012) and as Director for Plant Health (2018-2022). Furthermore, he represented the Netherlands Department of Agriculture as Agricultural Attaché in Rome and Hong Kong, followed by postings as Agricultural Counselor in Seoul and in Berlin.
