Monjur is past chair of Protein Division of American Association of Cereal Chemists. Monjur has Bachelor of Technology in Chemical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India. He obtained his Master of Technology in Bioprocess Technology from Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, Thailand. Monjur received his Ph.D. in Food Science and Technology from Texas A&M University, College Station, TX.
